Oct. 22: Nova Scotia reporting 23 cases of COVID-19, four people in ICU | Saltwire - SaltWire Network

Nova Scotia Public Health reported 23 new COVID-19 cases Friday, with 26 recoveries.

Thirteen cases are in the central zone, six in the western zone, three in the northern zone, leaving one case in the eastern zone.

There are no new cases at the Valley Regional Hospital, but five people who were in the hospital in a non-COVID unit tested positive. One of those people is in the ICU. 

As of Friday, there are 160 active cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia, with 15 people in hospital, and a total of four in the ICU.

Two more schools were notified of exposures on Thursday: E.B. Chandler Junior High and Amherst Regional High School, both in Amherst. The full list of school exposures is here. 

In the reporting week of Oct. 14-20, there were 77 cases and of those:

  • 23 (29.9 per cent) were fully vaccinated
  • three (3.9 per cent) were partially vaccinated
  • 51 (66.2 per cent) were unvaccinated

Of the 5,506 cases from March 15 to October 20:

  • 324 (5.9 per cent) were fully vaccinated
  • 353 (6.4 per cent) were partially vaccinated
  • 4,829 (87.7 per cent) were unvaccinated

There were 304 people hospitalized:

  • 11 (3.6 per cent) were fully vaccinated
  • 30 (9.9 per cent) were partially vaccinated
  • 263 (86.5 per cent) were unvaccinated

Of the 32 people who died:

  • three (9.4 per cent) were fully vaccinated
  • three (9.4 per cent) were partially vaccinated
  • 26 (81.3 per cent) were unvaccinated
