
British Columbia's final COVID-19 update of the week will be released on Friday afternoon.
The update is expected to come as a written statement after 3 p.m.
On Thursday, health officials identified 715 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., including 61 cases found in the Island Health region.
As of Thursday, there were 4,965 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, including 504 active cases in the island region, according to the B.C. ministry of health.
Island Health data identified the locations of 431 active cases Thursday, including 178 in the South Island, 217 in the Central Island and 36 in the North Island.
Four more COVID-19 deaths were reported in B.C. Thursday, all of which were identified in the Northern Health region.
Since the pandemic began, 2,096 people have died of the illness in B.C., including 84 deaths reported in the Island Health region.
As of Thursday, 89.8 per cent of British Columbians aged 12 and older had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 83.8 per cent of eligible residents had received two doses.
