Safe Ambassador Program launched to help businesses minimize risks associated with COVID - KitchenerToday.com

It's being called the first of its kind in Canada.

On Tuesday, the Greater Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, Cambridge Chamber, and the region announced the formal launch of the COVID-19 Safe Ambassador Program.

It provides free education and one-on-one support to help local small and medium-sized businesses to minimize the risks associated with COVID-19. The partners say the program is a direct response to those businesses needing more clarity and information, on how to operate under the different stages of the province's reopening framework.

After a successful site visit, the business will receive a sign to display, letting customers know the store, or workplace has made COVID safety a top priority.

Since June 7, ambassadors have visited over 200 businesses. They have all been trained by NSF International, a global health and safety organization.

“The Greater KW and Cambridge Chambers are pleased to partner with the Region of Waterloo to offer this free program to help local businesses operate safely.” Ian McLean, President & CEO, Greater KW Chamber of Commerce said in a news release.

“Waterloo Region was the first region in the country to pilot the successful rapid screening program and we are pleased to once again be leading the country with the launch of the COVID-Safe Ambassador program.” added Greg Durocher, President & CEO, Cambridge Chamber of Commerce.

Included in an ambassador visit is a toolkit of resources for businesses, including a free box of surgical-grade medical masks, donated by Cambridge-based Eclipse Automation.
