Why is a COVID drug, that can cure a fatal cat disease, not available to Canadian pet owners? - Toronto Star

Thousands of cats who suffer from a fatal disease called Feline Infectious Peritonitis, known as FIP, could be saved by a drug called Remdesivir, a antiviral medication approved in Canada to treat COVID.

But Gilead, the U.S. company that manufactures the drug under the brand name Veklury won't sell the medication for pets even though it is legal in Canada to treat animals using drugs approved for human use.
