Steering Committee Established to Eliminate Hepatitis C in NL - VOCM

A steering committee has been created to eliminate Hepatitis C in Newfoundland and Labrador by 2030.

Thursday was Canadian Viral Hepatitis Elimination Day.

The steering committee announced yesterday by the provincial government will lead action and develop a framework to reduce the incidence and impact of Hepatitis C in the province.

Hepatitis C is a contagious liver disease that is spread primarily through contact with the blood of an infected person. It can range in severity from a mild illness that lasts a few weeks, to a serious lifelong illness that can cause permanent liver damage.
