COVID-19 community risk index in Peterborough remains at low - The Peterborough Examiner

Peterborough Public Health kept the COVID-19 community risk index at low on Wednesday after reporting no new deaths and 14 new PCR test confirmed cases from the past week.

There are institutional COVID-19 outbreaks at Riverview Manor long-term-care home along with Rubidge Retirement Residence and Empress Gardens retirement home.

Peterborough Regional Health Centre had four admitted patients with the virus as of Friday.

Low is the second lowest of the health unit’s five-level risk index. Under the low level, the health unit advises people to wear masks if you prefer for risk reduction and in certain settings while also advising that people can gather with people as they feel comfortable and enter high-risk settings as they feel comfortable. People at high risk should still uses masks in high-risk indoor public spaces and keep their gatherings masked and limited to outdoors or small groups, the health unit also advises.

The health unit offers COVID-19 vaccination doses on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at a clinic in Jackson Square at 185 King St. in Peterborough. The North Kawartha Community Centre at 340 McFadden Rd. in Apsley will host a walk-in clinic for the county on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with children under 12 from 1 to 2 p.m.

Just 15 per cent of residents have had a booster shot in the past six months, while 82 per cent have had the primary series of shots.
