The review of immunization records for elementary school students started in December 2022, when more than 12,000 students received notice their records weren’t up to date. In early February 6,600 students received suspension orders effective March 20, 2022 if their records were not updated.

The 3,190 students with continued outstanding immunization records will be suspended effective Monday, March 20 if their records are not updated, the health unit said.

Reporting vaccinations can be done online, and parents can find information on the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit website. To avoid suspension, parents can book their child’s immunization at a WECU office online or by phone at 519-960-0231, with clinics planned by appointment where public health nurses are available to administer vaccines and update immunization records.

Parents can also contact their child’s healthcare provider to receive any missing vaccinations or documents, and submit their records to WECHU by phone at 519-960-0231 or 1-800-265-5822 ext. 1222 (toll-free), by fax to 519-258-7288 or online at immune.wechu.org.
