District Health Department #10: RSV, Flu Cases Started Early, Hit Harder This Year - 9 & 10 News - 9&10 News

Both seasons of flu and RSV started much earlier and harder this year.

Although RSV cases were higher than usual, District Health Department #10 says there appeared to be a drop off in cases in the last couple of weeks. Flu cases are high in the country, but the department says the virus has been a little slower to catch up in Michigan.

They expect the flu cases in Michigan to catch up to how it is nationally in the next couple of weeks.

“A lot of us, by not getting sick, just had a drop in our natural immunity. And so now that we’ve really backed off on those non-pharmaceutical interventions, we’re more likely to get sick from some of these other things,” Jennifer Morse, the Medical Director at District Health Department #10, said.

Michigan is also behind the typical vaccination rate for flu compared to years prior.

Adblock test (Why?)
