Hastings & Prince Edward Public Health expecting surge in respiratory illnesses - mybancroftnow.com

Hastings & Prince Edward Public Health is encouraging people to get both a flu vaccine and a COVID-19 booster shot this fall, ahead of what could be a rough winter.

A report that followed a recent board meeting, said that Ontario is expecting a spike in acute respiratory illnesses this season. The projected increase is big enough to pose a burden on the health care system.

The health unit urges people to use the same strategies they’ve used throughout the pandemic. That includes being vaccinated, washing hands frequently and knowing how to get tested and treated for COVID-19.

Officials also encourage people to stay home when feeling sick. And they ask you to wear a mask if you’re recovering or in a high-risk setting.
