Fourth area of Hogarth Riverview Manor in COVID-19 outbreak - Tbnewswatch.com

THUNDER BAY – A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared in a fourth area of the Hogarth Riverview Manor long-term care home.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported the latest outbreak, in the home’s Rose (6N) area, on Wednesday, but did not disclose further details.

Despite the growing number of outbreaks in the 544-bed home, operated by St. Joseph’s Care Group, the health unit has so far not declared an outbreak facility-wide.

The St. Joseph’s Care Group has refused to share details on the number of people infected in the outbreaks and whether they've caused any hospitalizations or deaths in response to requests from TBnewswatch, citing privacy concerns.

That policy stands in contrast with other local long-term care home operators, which have shared details on COVID-19 outbreaks at their facilities in the past.

The TBDHU previously declared COVID-19 outbreaks in the home’s Marigold (5N) area on April 25, the 1 North area on April 19, and the 4 North area on April 15.
