Immunocompromised residents of Peterborough now eligible for fourth COVID-19 dose - The Peterborough Examiner

People in Peterborough city and county who are immunocompromised or are on immunosuppressive medication are now eligible for a fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

People whose immune systems are suppressed due to a health condition or medication side effect are at an increased risk for moderate to severed symptoms due to COVID-19 infection, according to a release from Peterborough Public Health.

Medical officer of health Dr. Thomas Piggott advises people to speak to their doctors to confirm eligibility for a fourth dose.

People who are eligible for that fourth dose because of any medication they are taking are asked to bring either the medication or the prescription to the vaccine clinic to confirm eligibility.

The health unit will continue to run a mass vaccination clinic at Healthy Planet Arena in Peterborough until June 1.

Those who are getting vaccinated must wear a mask at the mass clinic after Monday since it’s a medical setting (where masks will still be required in Ontario beyond March 21).
