Officials with the Manitoba government will be providing a COVID-19 update, as well as more information on proof of vaccination for domestic and international travel.
Dr. Brent Roussin, chief provincial public health officer, along with Health Minister Audrey Gordon will be speaking at a news conference at 2 p.m. at the Manitoba Legislative Building. Central Services Minister Reg Helwer will attend as a virtual participant. CTV News Winnipeg will live-stream the event.
Last week, the Manitoba government confirmed it will be offering new proof of vaccination that meets the pan-Canadian requirements for travel. The new credential was expected to be available as of Monday.
This news came after the federal government announced that each province and territory would need to issue its own standardized pan-Canadian vaccine passport for use when travelling.
Manitobans are still required to use their current immunization card to access certain businesses and services within the province.
Officials will also be providing a COVID-19 update at Monday’s news conference.
As of Friday, the last time Manitoba provided updated COVID-19 case numbers, there were 954 active cases and 62,588 cases since the start of the pandemic. The death toll was at 1,235 and the five-day test positivity rate was 3.3 per cent.
This is a developing story. More details to come.
