Flu Vaccination Clinics in the Works, Says Department of Health - VOCM

While efforts continue to increase the number of people vaccinated against COVID-19, another flu season is about to begin.

Last year the province put a push on to get people vaccinated against the flu to prevent added stress to the health care system dealing with COVID infections and hospitalizations.

The Department of Health says planning is currently underway for flu vaccination clinics.

The 2019-2020 flu season came to an abrupt end in March of 2020 when travel restrictions and isolation measures were put in place to stem the spread of COVID-19.

There were no lab-confirmed cases of the flu reported in the province during the 2020-21 season.

Now that most travel restrictions have been lifted, and more people are on the move thanks to the COVID vaccine, more cases of seasonal influenza are expected this year.
