9 new cases of COVID-19 in Waterloo region Wednesday - CBC.ca

For the second time this week, Waterloo region saw fewer than 10 new COVID-19 cases.

Public health reported nine new cases of the virus on Wednesday. Nine cases were also reported on Monday. 

There were 117 active cases in the region. 

There were seven outbreaks, five of which were in local schools:

  • Woodland Christian High School had six cases over multiple cohorts.
  • JF Carmichael Public School had three cases.
  • Hespeler Public School had two cases.
  • Parkway Public School had two cases.
  • Grand River Collegiate Institute had two cases.

There was one outbreak at a Kitchener child-care centre with three cases and one at Trinity Village Studios retirement home with three cases in non-staff members.

The region's vaccination dashboard showed 89.96 per cent of people eligible to get the vaccine have received their first dose, while 85.63 per cent have two doses.
