BC Vaccine Passports Are Coming & Here's What You Need To Know - Narcity Canada

The B.C. government announced that they will be requiring a vaccine passport for many public activities, like restaurants, weddings, and sporting events come the fall.

"While we are making excellent progress with our vaccine efforts, we continue to see waves of cases, particularly in people who are not yet vaccinated," said Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, in a video conference on August 23.

According to Dr. Henry, there will be a confidential system that will allow you to download a card onto your phone that will indicate whether you are vaccinated, unvaccinated, or partially vaccinated. Businesses will be required to look at a person's vaccination card and ID in order for them to enter.

"When you go out to non-discretionary activities like ticketed sporting events, indoor concerts, movies, wherever there is non-discretionary activity, that you can go to with the confidence that those around you have also taken steps to protect themselves and their families, the B.C. vaccine card will help us get there," said Premier John Horgan during the conference.

As of September 13, people will be required to be vaccinated to participate in indoor ticked sporting events, indoor concerts, theatre, dance, and symphony events, indoor and patio dining, nightclubs and casinos, fitness centres and gyms, businesses offering high-intensity exercise, and organized indoor events such as weddings, parties, conferences, meetings, workplaces.
