WATERLOO REGION — New COVID-19 cases continue to climb in Waterloo Region as another 67 cases were reported on Wednesday.
As part of its daily afternoon update, Region of Waterloo Public Health reported seven new variants of concern, bringing the total to 3,574. That represents about a fifth of the total cases reported in the region, now up to 17,206.
However, active cases dropped on Wednesday by 19 down to 503, and hospitalizations were also down by five patients to 52.
There are currently 16 active outbreaks after two workforce outbreaks — one in the trades and another in health services — were declared over.
There were no new deaths reported on Wednesday.
