Saskatchewan added 15,633 doses to its vaccine tally in Friday’s update, as the province reported 89 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths.

There are now 770,463 vaccine doses administered in Saskatchewan. About 67 per cent of those 18 and over are now at least partly vaccinated, while the figure is 64 per cent of those 12 and over.

The 89 new cases brought the seven-day average for daily cases down to 129, still the second highest in the country on a per capita basis. With 20, Saskatoon had the highest number of new cases, followed by the far north east at 13 and Regina at 12. A total of 1,292 COVID-19 cases are now considered active.

There were 101 people hospitalized on Friday, including 21 in intensive care. Two of the ICU patients were transfers from Manitoba, which continues to grapple with the highest case rates in the country.

Vaccination is currently open to all residents 12 and over, with second doses available for those 65 years and over or people who received a first dose on or before March 22. Saskatchewan is expecting to receive 12,400 doses of the Moderna vaccine this week.
