Nova Scotia's May 20 potential COVID-19 exposure warnings for stores and bus routes | Saltwire - SaltWire Network

Nova Scotia Public Health is warning of potential COVID-19 exposures at several locations, such as fast food restaurants and grocery stores, across the province.

In a release Thursday night, Public Health warned of potential exposures at various locations, advising all who visited or worked at the following locations to book a COVID-19 test:

  • Meltwich Food Co. (325 Prince St., Sydney) on May 15 between 4:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named dates may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 29.
  • McDonald's (417 Welton St., Sydney) on May 13 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and May 15 between 6:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named dates may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 30.
  • McDonald's (3486 Kempt Rd., Halifax) on May 15 between 4:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named dates may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 29.
  • Costco (230 Chain Lake Dr., Halifax) on May 16 between 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named dates may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 30.
  • Kent Building Supplies (225 Chain Lake Dr., Halifax) on May 16 between 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named dates may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 30.
  • Home Depot (368 Lacewood Dr., Halifax) on May 17 between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named dates may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 31.
  • Walmart (Dartmouth Crossing, 90 Lamont Terrace, Dartmouth) on May 12 between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named dates may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 26.
  • Giant Tiger (114 Woodlawn Rd., Dartmouth) on May 16 between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named dates may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 30.
  • No Frills (118 Wyse Rd., Dartmouth) on May 16 between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named dates may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 30.
  • Loblaws Pharmacy Vaccine Clinic, Atlantic Superstore (745 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville) on May 12 between 2:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named dates may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 26.
  • Halifax Stanfield International Airport – from Domestic Check-in to Security (747 Bell Boulevard, Goffs) on May 16 between 2:15 p.m. and 4 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named dates may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 30.

Two previously issued potential exposure warnings have had their times corrected by public health: 

  • McDonald's (417 Welton St., Sydney) on May 15 between 3:30 p.m. and midnight. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named dates may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 29. 
  • Atlantic Superstore (745 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville) on May 12 between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named dates may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 26.

Public Health also warned of potential exposures on various Halifax Transit routes, requiring any passengers who were on the bus for at least 15 minutes to self-isolate while waiting for their test result, regardless of whether or not they have symptoms:

  • Halifax Transit Route #90 (Larry Uteck), which runs from Water Street Terminal to the corner of Gary Martin Drive and Hammonds Plains Road, on May 16 between 3 p.m. and 3:35 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 30. 
  • Halifax Transit Route #90 (Larry Uteck), which runs from the corner of Gary Martin Drive and Hammonds Plains Road to Water Street Terminal, on May 16 between 10:55 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 30. 
  • Halifax Transit Route #90 (Larry Uteck), which runs from Water Street Terminal to the corner of Gary Martin Drive and Hammonds Plains Road, on May 17 between 3 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 31.
  • Halifax Transit Route #90 (Larry Uteck), which runs from the corner of Gary Martin Drive and Hammonds Plains Road to Water Street Terminal, on May 17 between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 31. 
  • Halifax Transit Route #90 (Larry Uteck), which runs from Water Street Terminal to the corner of Gary Martin Drive and Hammonds Plains Road, on May 18 between 3 p.m. and 3:35 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, June 1. 
  • Halifax Transit Route #4 (Universities), which runs from the corner of Lemarchant Street and University Avenue to Lacewood Terminal, on May 18 between 7:45 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, June 1. 

Public Health also issued a potential exposure warnings for an incoming flight, advising people in the specified rows to book a COVID-19 test:

  • Air Canada 604 travelling from Toronto (8:15 a.m.) to Halifax (11:15 a.m.) on May 15. Passengers in rows 18 – 24, seats A, C and D. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus on this flight on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, May 29.

All other passengers should continue to self-isolate as required and monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. 

Rapid testing

On Friday, there will be pop-up testing sites for people ages 16 and older with no symptoms or exposures at: 

  • John Martin School, 7 Brule St., Dartmouth, from noon to 7 p.m.
  • Alderney Gate Public Library, Dartmouth, from noon to 7 p.m.
  • Halifax Convention Centre, from noon to 7 p.m.
  • Halifax Central Library from noon to 7 p.m.
  • Central Spryfield Elementary School, 364 Herring Cove Rd., from noon to 7 p.m.
  • Sackville Sports Stadium, from noon to 7 p.m.
  • Centre 200, Sydney, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

People are to schedule a test at a primary assessment centre if in the past 48 hours they have had or are currently experiencing: fever (i.e. chills/sweats) or cough (new or worsening) Or two or more of the following symptoms (new or worsening):

  • sore throat
  • runny nose/nasal congestion
  • headache shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
